Davao is quite small. And my family, smaller.So when folks found out I was thinking of buying a condo, here are some of the things they said to me:

Mama, my mothers mother who has never been in an airplane and never been to Manila since they migrated to Davao in the early 70's: Bakit ano ba yang condo?
Papa, my 80-something grandpa: Wag ka lang mag-condo nak. Sobrang taas, and Manila is along the fault line. What if magka-earthquake? O magkasunog.
+++++++++++
Papa: Patulong ka kay Choy (my relatively affluent distant granpa who lives in Ayala Alabang). Baka may alam siyang magandang lugar.
Nanay, my other tita: Sosyal man yan si Choy, baka dalhin siya sa mahal....Mahal man nang condo nak.
+++++++++++

Mommy Tonton, my usually groovy aunt, for some strange reason said this: Ay!
+++++++++++
All this condo talk and reading of magazines all the more gets me excited bout the prospect of moving. And everyone in my family seems to be supportive.
I was reading my reflection notebooks in 1998 and in 2001. Some of my issues keep going on and on. Like I didn't grow.
Maybe it's time to break the cycle... And would living on my own be the vehicle?
